3Commas Review 2026: Power User's Verdict

By Marcus Feld · Published June 30, 2026

3Commas is the bot serious traders reach for when they’ve outgrown an exchange’s built-in tools. We tested the SmartTrade terminal and its DCA and GRID bots to see if it earns its reputation.

What 3Commas does well

The SmartTrade terminal is the headline: set entry, multiple take-profit targets and a trailing stop in a single order. The DCA, GRID and Signal bots are among the most configurable available, and the Signal bot’s deep TradingView integration lets you trigger trades straight from Pine Script alerts. You can manage 15+ exchanges from one dashboard, and there’s backtesting plus a paper-trading sandbox to validate ideas.

Pricing

A limited free plan exists, with the real power on paid tiers starting around $49/mo. If you’re using the advanced bots daily, the Pro plan pays for itself quickly; casual users may find it more than they need.

Pros and cons

The pros: a deep toolkit with DCA, GRID and Signal bots, the SmartTrade terminal, best-in-class TradingView integration, support for 15+ exchanges and a free plan to test the waters. The cons: a steep learning curve that can overwhelm beginners, paid tiers that feel pricey for light users, and a security history (see below) that still gives some traders pause.

Is 3Commas safe?

3Commas never holds your coins; it connects to your exchange through API keys, so you should grant trade-only permissions and keep withdrawals disabled. The platform suffered a publicized API key breach in late 2022 and has since added mandatory IP whitelisting, encrypted key storage and 2FA. It’s reasonably safe with tight API settings, but as an unregulated tool it still carries the usual crypto risk.

Who it’s for

3Commas suits advanced, multi-exchange traders who want deep control and don’t mind a learning curve. If that sounds like overkill, Cryptohopper is friendlier and Pionex is free. See the 3Commas vs Cryptohopper head-to-head, or our full best crypto trading bots roundup.
